Brush Collection Begins

October 21

  1. Placement:
    • Have brush alongside the roadway prior to October 21.
    • Brush must be parallel to the roadway (see pictures below). This reduces the need for personnel to reposition the brush for equipment pickup.
    • Please refrain from entangling the brush. Brush must have all ends facing in one direction. Mixed or twisted piles will not be collected.
    • Brush should be visible and kept near the road, no further than three feet from the road edge to prevent damage to private property.
  2. Brush Specifications:
    • Maximum Length: 8 feet
    • Maximum Circumference: 6 inches
  3. Prohibited Items:
    • No household trash, rocks, stones, or construction debris mingled with the brush.
    • Brush will not be collected from lots being cleared for construction purposes.
  4. Avoid Obstacles:
    • Place brush greater than 10 feet away from cable or electric utility boxes, mailboxes, fences, retaining walls, vehicles, or other objects that may be located in your front yard near the roadway.
  5. Time Limit:
    • Crews will spend a maximum of 10 minutes at each brush pile to keep the operation moving and minimize traffic disruption.

Additional Information:

  • Brush pickup routes and schedules may be affected by other projects or weather conditions.
  • This service is provided to assist residents with property maintenance.  This service is not intended to clean up brush left over from commercial activities or professional tree trimming business.
  • For year-round disposal, residents can drop off brush and leaves at the Greene Township    compost facility located at 300 Mickey Inn Road Chambersburg, PA. 17202

Compliance: Greene Township personnel may not pick up brush if these instructions are not followed.

For your convenience the composting facility is open year long.

Please note that this is the BEGINNING date for brush collection. We ask for your patience as it may take a few weeks to complete the entire Township
